After much speculation, Freetail Brewing Co.'s founder and CEO, Scott Metzger announced that Houston will be the brewpub's new, "flagship" location, which will encompass a decidedly large space in a historic building downtown.
“A lot of folks talk about the trail of failed brewpubs that litters Houston’s past, but I don’t think a brewpub is something that can’t thrive here," said Metzger about the 2012 spring opening of the Houston Freetail location.
In contrast to their original spot in San Antonio, which is currently one, large room with a patio overlooking hill country, the Houston facility will span three floors. In addition to providing the city with another place to sip a hometown-brewed pint, patrons can also enjoy a sit down meal in their restaurant, a game of pool, darts or shuffleboard or catch the Texans this fall on one of the many televisions throughout the dining area.
However, there is one, small catch...While the executed Letter of Intent is in place, Freetail isn't finished with fundraising efforts needed to complete financing on the project. Although a "significant" portion is complete, the next 90 days will be needed to raise the remaining investment.
